bbc manchester – november 26
so we awake in manchester just for a couple of radio shows. they have us park the bus in the confines of the security parking lot there, and when we emerge we see an equipment truck parked beside with the name “provision” displayed across its sides. it’s a video production company. but a funny omen too.
its displayed phone number thick with 222 on it.
so the boys set up in the small radio studio and we did 2 shows: one live for mark Radcliff and the other taped for mark riley. we did alright on both i think. we tend to be playing very well on the radio these days, and we all think the next tour cd needs to have the best of them clotted on it.
it was good having the girls there to sing too. lucie and lonna are from polar opposite regions: lonna, blonded from the sun drench of arizona with a smokey slow burn vocal texture, and lucie darkened from the tundra freeze of her inuit people with a pouncing vocal thrust.
so radio land swallowed the night whole, and then we packed up and left the mancs, after a well earned pint in a small pub brimming on a friday night.
when i got back to the bus, there were sweet texs from polly and john parish having heard the shows live way out in their hinter lands. apparently 2 million listen in.
polly had tried to warn me to watch out for how the djs in question tend to make fun of their guests for the sake of entertainment value. but then after hearing the show, she instead congratulated the outcome, which i think might have had to do with giving them the slip with a barrage of whimsical verbal clash and dash. my slipstream of utter had its way with them as they struggled to decipherer what the hell i might be on about. i think.
plus we played pretty good too, for radio.
the end.
